Ultimate Tips for Clothes Shopping While Losing Weight

While reaching your weight loss goals is a great feeling, what isn’t a great feeling is floating in your old oversized clothes. Here’s what you can do for the time being.

Ultimate Tips for Clothes Shopping While

Losing Weight

So, you are losing weight and your old clothes don’t fit you anymore. However, you have yet to reach your ultimate target weight and are still in the transitional phase. It wouldn’t make any sense in replacing your entire wardrobe and spending tons of money while doing so.

But, you must remember that over-wearing your old loose and baggy clothes thinking that you will buy new clothes once you have reached your goal is also not a solution.

Since what you wear ultimately affects you, your mood and your confidence, it is also important to dress well even in this weight loss transitional phase.

Useful tips for shopping

Here are a few tips to rearrange your wardrobe (without completely emptying your pockets) that you can use while losing weight.

1. BUY THE CLOTHES THAT FIT YOU NOW

Do not buy clothes in sizes that you want to achieve by losing the extra pounds. Rather buy something that fits you well now and makes you feel good about yourself.

Smaller clothes are going to only take up extra space in your closet and make you feel bad about your current body.

2. You can relax on the fit rules

While you should wear what makes you feel good, you can still relax when it comes to your fit.

If your pants are a little loose wear a belt and enjoy the results of your hard work.

When it’s clear you’re a size (or two!) down, consider shopping for a new size.

3. FOCUS ON FIT FIRST, QUALITY LATER (AND DON’T WORRY ABOUT BEING PERFECT)

When you’re in the process of losing weight, brand or quality doesn’t matter as much, so it isn’t worth worrying about until later.

Your body will be changing and most likely, you’ll need to buy a smaller size or fit later, so going with the more affordable option is totally understandable.

4. REPLACE THE THINGS YOU WEAR MOST OFTEN, FIRSt

The reason why you should buy replacements for the clothes you wear most is because you want to feel good every day! The clothes you wear every day should fit you well, because after all, they’re what you wear most.

Stuff that you only wear occasionally, or hardly at all, you can delay replacing until you get closer to your goal weight.

5. How about altering your clothes?

While losing weight, the body of every individual changes differently. It is hard to predict in which part you will lose weight first. If your body hasn’t changed much, you can get your clothes altered to fit well while waiting for sometime before buying new clothes.

6. Resist the Splurge

As we’ve discussed, it’s impractical to buy an entire wardrobe for a transitional weight-loss period. Be selective about the pieces you buy, shop at thrift stores, have clothing tailored or choose styles that can work for a range of sizes, until you reach your goal weight, to save yourself money and frustration. Focus on a few great pieces that make you feel wonderful and save the splurge as a reward for reaching your goals.
